North Sundskajen
New vision for the development of the northern part of Ön in Limhamn
Together with Sundprojekt and Riksbyggen, KANOZI architects have developed a completely new idea for the development of the northern part of the island in Limhamn.
Our proposal is to preserve the unique and popular natural land that exists on the northern part of the island today and instead of building new residential quarters inside the island, create new unique living environments on the shore and out in the water on piles. On the eastern side of the island, fantastic living environments can be built that take advantage of the unique water space between Norra Sundskajen on the island and Glasbrukskajen on the other side. With this way of building on the island, we can also strengthen the public's access to the water and also add new long-awaited bathing places for everyone in Limhamn.
New pedestrian and cycle bridge
The new pedestrian and bicycle bridge will connect the northern part of Ön with Vaktgatan, creating completely new conditions for connecting the whole of Limhamn. At the foot of the bridge, we have placed a round building as a landmark with space for a café and restaurant on the ground floor, and a new bus stop is also planned here.
Living environments
Along the waterfront, we propose different types of housing with views between the buildings. On the west side of the new street, towards the natural area, smaller buildings can contain, among other things, environmental rooms, storage rooms and bicycle rooms. The buildings are positioned so that lines of sight are preserved both towards Limhamn and towards Öresund. Between and in front of all the homes, stairs and footbridges lead down to piers with bathing and boating areas.
Public access, recreation and bathing
The public will have the opportunity to move around on the jetty landscape outside the homes. Here we also see that we can place a floating bathing area with seawater pools, some with shallow bottoms for children, and in this way provide the whole of Limhamn with a new type of recreational space. In the southern part of the quay, at the far end of the harbor basin, there is space for a group of floating houseboats. Here, too, the public has the opportunity to move between the homes and out onto the intermediate piers.
