Copper Wire Building of the Year 2025!
The prize is awarded by the City of Sundbyberg to projects that add value to the urban environment, are sustainable and have high architectural quality.
The restoration of the Copper Wire will be an important contribution to Sundbyberg, here is the motivation:
Through restored roof heights, factory-inspired windows and new entrances, Max Sievert's cable factory from 1888 has regained its industrial identity. Koppartråden is a good example of careful urban renewal in Sundbyberg and how an important cultural environment can be given new life.
Kanozi Architects' Ida Nordesjö talks about the project:
The cable factory was once Sundbyberg's largest employer and played a central role in the city's growth. Through careful restoration, including new factory-inspired windows, restored ceiling heights and new entrances, the building regains its significance, now as a modern workplace, restaurant and coworking. The copper wire strengthens the district's identity and symbolizes Sundbyberg's journey from industrial city to diverse urban environment. The sustainability strategy has focused on resource efficiency through preserved frames, reuse and energy-efficient installations. The Cykelboden illustrates this well, where the facade was built with reuse of the demolished 80s windows.
Thank you Skandia Fastigheter for a great collaboration!
