A redevelopment project in time

Mercury 5

This week we start the detailed design of Merkurius 5, a former industrial building near the center of Skellefteå that will now be converted into office space in a unique environment with flowing light and varied spatialities. The building's existing structure will be retained and the facade will be opened up with new glass sections. In the center of what used to be the large double-storey warehouse, two light-filled courtyards with a Mediterranean climate are placed in the middle of the office landscape. The industrial architecture allows a variegated expression that testifies to the building's development over decades.

It is in many ways a very interesting project where Kanozi Arkitekter is the architect from sketch to finished project, as well as having the interior design assignment for the tenant.

It's great to work with a knowledgeable client like NP3 and create a well-balanced project together. Remodeling projects of this type are difficult in the sense that you have to meet modern requirements and create good environments while not wanting to distort the origin, or incur unreasonable costs.
