Accommodation on a historic site in Malmö

Citadellskajen in central Malmö consists of 48 cooperative apartments in a fantastic location along the waterfront overlooking Malmöhus Castle.

Area4 800 m²

To interact with the solid materials of the castle, the façade of Citadellskajen has been clad in traditional and timeless materials such as the so-called Malmö brick, a yellow brick found in several places in the city. The urban facade is a deliberate approach, but to break down the brick building volume, the roofscape has been given dormers and a lowered eave that reduces the scale towards the quay. The floor plans are flexible with several options to accommodate people's different lifestyle choices.

Malmöteglet is a yellow brick that can be found in many places in Malmö. The idea behind the whole project is that a Malmö resident should be able to recognize themselves here.

In the fall of 2018, the first residents of the Citadellskajen neighborhood were ready to move in, and Kanozi Arkitekter could proudly take stock of an almost ten-year-long process with a solid work of developing a detailed plan for the area and designing one of the houses in the first block.

This is such an exclusive and unique location that we have tried to take advantage of all the qualities that exist in the area. An important aspect to consider is of course the castle and its solid, heavy materials, including red brick.
