In 1888, Max Sievert founded Trådfabriken, which later became known as Sieverts Kabelverk. For a long time, the factory was Sundbyberg's largest employer. It closed in the 1970s and was then converted into offices and renovated to the standards of the time. Factory windows were replaced, the ceiling was lowered, which meant that half the window area was blinded. Part of Kanozi Arkitekter's work has been to restore both the exterior and interior to the building's origins and highlight the qualities that were renovated in the 70s.
The project also includes a temporary bike shed that really demonstrates the power of thoughtful reuse. The existing windows on TKF's property were due to be replaced, but instead of throwing them away, they were given new life on the bike shed. A solution that is both practical and sustainable. Although the building permit is only temporary, the ambition was to make the building feel elaborate and permanent. This required creativity and careful planning to ensure that the recycled materials fit into the whole. One fun detail is the color of the bike shed, which was guided by fiber materials we were locked into using for safety reasons - it set the tone for the entire shed's aesthetic and color choices.
