Winning the land allocation competition
Oceanpiren is part of Oceanhamnen, a new district emerging in central Helsingborg. The old port and industrial area is being transformed into an urban district with a focus on the environment and sustainability. The project started with a win in the land allocation competition announced by the City of Helsingborg, where they asked for creative, sustainable proposals. The prize was shared with Kamikaze Arkitekter and we are responsible for building 1 with 32 tenant-owned apartments.
A neighborhood for life
The project was named "A block for life", housing with attractive and flexible solutions for all generations. For example, some apartments have a so-called 'teenage room' - a separate area with a bedroom, private bathroom and private entrance door. A solution perfect for the teenager but also for those who want to have a roommate. Externally, the building is varied in its expression, the building consists of both a classic, black brick facade and a more modern pleated and shimmering stainless steel facade.
The roof is the fifth facade of the building and deserves attention. In Oceanpiren, the common roof terrace becomes a place for activity and recreation.

Helsingborg Urban Design Award 2024
Oceanpiren is one of five finalists for the Helsingborg Urban Design Award, which will be presented for the first time on November 20, 2024. From the jury's motivation we can read the following: "A fine example of a varied architecture of high quality that in a welcoming way strengthens the city's silhouette against the sea. The open structure towards the quay, with roof terraces and shortcuts between the private courtyard and the public quayside, strengthens the social sustainability of the neighborhood and the entire area."
